Ready to Assign
Ready to Assign is income that has landed in your budget but has not been given a job yet. Think of it as a holding tray: pay arrives, then you move it into envelopes.
- When Ready to Assign is above zero, you still have money to place — open Assign to give it a job.
- When it is zero, every dollar has a job for that month — the goal of zero-based budgeting.
- Leftover from a previous month can still be assigned later; work through older months first if you have a backlog.
